Google Pixel 3 XL 2018- Display Notch-EXCLSUIVE

Leaked Prototype of Google Pixel 3 XL

What it seems to be a rumor couple of weeks ago, prototype of Google Pixel 3 XL having Display Notch and Glass Back has been leaked. If newly leaked images of a prototype are to be believed, it looks like the previous rumors could be true.

The images were first posted on the XDA Developers forums and show off the front and rear of the alleged device.

The front offers a large display with slim bezels all around and a small chin on the bottom. On the top area of the screen, there is a cut out for what looks like two front-facing cameras and an earpiece.

Display Notch

It has a glass back and Display Notch. It is not confirmed now whether the Pixel 3 XL has wireless charging support, that it does have a glass back bodes well for those hoping for the feature to be available.

The top Notch feature is getting viral and every manufacturer is incorporating the same in their upcoming gadgets, this can also be read for Xiaomi in my earlier blog https://xplorehub.blogspot.com/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-8-goes-out-of-stock-within.html

The leaked image of the prototype also suggests that the Pixel 3 XL will come with a 4GB + 128GB RAM and storage option, but it's still early in the day to confirm this.

What we can expect, however, is that the phones will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset and will run Android P from very first day.

UPDATE:

The second leak for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL provided us with details for the pair’s screen sizes and a notch for the latter. Coming from a reliable source, it pegs the smaller Pixel 3 with 5.2' screen and larger one having 6.2' screen

For comparison, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL have 5.0″ and 6.0″ displays respectively. This suggests the Pixel 3 might feature an 18:9 aspect ratio, although the screen-to-body ratio may not be very impressive.  Since the bigger Pixel 3 XL will have a notch at the top, we can expect it to have a taller 19:9 aspect ratio.

This can also be confirmed by a Bloomberg report from earlier this year that claimed the duo will feature two front-facing cameras.

It is also evident that both the smartphones feature front-facing stereo speakers, just like their predecessors.

As for physical dimensions, the Pixel 3 will measure 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9mm, while the Pixel 3 XL will measure 158 x 76.6 x 7.9mm. However, both smartphones will measure 8.6mm thin if we account for the rear camera bump.

But the current Pixels lack is an ability to achieve binocular disparity and facial mapping through dot projection. These two features are must to build a virtual 3D model of a person’s face and different between minor details.

It’s also the reason why the iPhone X’s Face ID can be used with glasses and other accessories.
As updated above and more importantly, the Pixel 3 XL, will feature larger displays over their predecessors. This will allow Google more internal room to add more hardware components.

On the road to front facing 3D facial recognition, Google’s got only a few barriers to cross.

Now let us go over some of the other design highlights revealed by these renders. Starting with the Pixel 3, we can see that the smartphone features a single camera on the back, with an LED flash module next to it. Positioned slightly below is a circular fingerprint sensor and the Google logo placed towards the bottom of the hands.

The rear panel itself appears to be very similar to that of the Pixel 2 with a small glass portion on the top and the rest of the back panel made out of metal. At the bottom, we have a USB Type-C port and a SIM card tray.

Also, there are no buttons on the right side of the device, while the left side has the volume rocker and the turquoise-finished power button.

The bigger Pixel 3 XL looks more or less identical to the Pixel 3 from the back. It too comes with a single camera on the back, which might disappoint some fans out there. Rest of the key design elements are also identical to the smaller Pixel 3.
