Most of the tourist loves to visit hill station frequently because of its amidst offering of adventurous and Trekking sports. We all have heard enough about places like Shimla, Dehradoon, Manali, Nainital etc. But, come on guys try something new.

1. KUFRI
It is one of the most visited hill station in India. It is in Himachal Pradesh, just 16 km away from Shimla, known for its picnic spots, trekking and hiking trails. It is also famous for its winter sports. This place is full of lush green hills, looks awesome in winter. The best time to visit Kufri is in summers, between April and June. However, if you wanna try in winter then you can visit there in the month of December and January to enjoy snowfall and skiing.

Places to visit there are:

GLEN -

Glen is a u shaped valley, located near to Andale and Summer Hill forest amid dense forest. There is a small stream of water at the Glen, which turns wide at some place and narrow at some. The stream looks very beautiful when it falls from a height and this is the reason why many tourists visit this place as a weekend gateway to enjoy picnics among the woods. Glen can be easily reached by car, but some people prefer to walk here on feet as it is located only 4 kms away from the main mall road.


ANNANDALE -

It is located approximately 3 kms away from the Ridge and is used to play cricket and to organize picnics, Golf, and Polo. It is quite a scenic spot as it gives a picturesque view of the Shimla city and its surroundings are occupied by deodar trees, oak trees, etc. Annandale is famous because earlier the British used this as a play ground for racing, polo, cricket and other entertaining activities.


THE RIDGE -
The Ridge is a large open space in the heart of Mall road that provides an excellent view of the mountain ranges engulfed in the beauty of nature. It is one of the most famous attractions in Shimla that is worth seeing with family and friends. The Ridge connects the Mall road at the Scandal point on the west side and offers a panoramic view of the snowy mountains of Shimla.


SEVEN HILLS -
With a major tourist attraction on every hill, Shimla is surrounded by these beauties augmented by the sensible designing of the city by British. Prospect, Summer, Observatory, Invererarm, Bantony, Jakhu and Elysium are the names of the hill that hold at least one significant tourist attraction.


2. DALHOUSIE

One of the most beautiful Hill Station in Himachal Pradesh, tourist used to witness amidst lush green surrounding and snow capped peaks of Himalayas.
                                                              


Places to visit there are:


KHAJJIAR:

It is located at a height of 2000m above from sea level at a short distance from Dalhousie, known as mini Switzerland of India. It is surrounded by thick cover of Deodar and Pine trees. It is famous for its picnic spots.


KALATOP WILDLIFE RESERVE :

The name Kalatop means 'black cap', which probably refers to the thick black forest cover on the highest hilltop in the sanctuary. Situated few kilometres away from the Chamba dam and Chamera reservoir on the river Ravi, it is known to be rich in flora and fauna. Hundreds of small streams of freshwater empty themselves into the Ravi river to the north of the sanctuary. Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect weekend getaway destination, with very few other places coming close to its natural charm.


PANCHPULA :

It is a nice picnic spot, where you can spend some time with your family and friends and enjoy the loveliness of exotic waterfalls and refreshing streams. Some of these streams even contain medicinal properties that are helpful in healing skin diseases. The Panchpula is a scenic place, which is surrounded by picturesque mountains and green valleys and is only three kms from the main city of Dalhousie.


SACH PASS :

Every years the pass gets open from late June or early July to mid October and then the road closes for winters after heavy snowfall. It is the shortest route from Chamba to the Killar with a distance of about 160 KMs and hence, once open, this route is prefered by the locals too. The other routes to Killar are, Chamba – Manali – Udaipur Killar about 680 KMs and Chamba – Jammu – Doda – Gulabgarh – Kishtwar – Killar about 570 KMs. In fact it is the shortest route for Pathankot to Leh over Manali – Leh Highway as well.

3. PONMUDI

                                                          


Locals in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram will declare that a weekend drive to Ponmudi is among the best ways to spend time in the city.The slopes shrouded in mist fill one with a feeling of wonder and amazement. A large amount of rare flora and fauna can be seen here including mountain flowers, wild orchids and exotic butterflies.


The temperature is equable throughout the year and the three hour drive from the city is justified once the valley comes into view. One can always stopover at the breath-taking Kallar River on the way, which flows parallel to the road in the opposite direction, with the picturesque Meenmutty Waterfalls only a little distance ahead. A large number of cottages and resorts have come up in the area. Trekking and camping options are also available for those interested in exploring this natural wonder on foot. The tree house view tower is another great place to visit. Ponmudi is indeed a rising hotbed of tourist activity. A hill so close to the city, yet nestled so near the protective arms of the sea.

GOLDEN VALLEY

Settled along the banks of Kallar River, Golden Valley is a picturesque location idyllic for its lush green valley, crystal clear water and golden sand. Visit this enchanting place that makes for a relaxed picnic-spot.


PEPPARA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Open all year round, Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary is located along the catchment area of the Peppara Dam on the Karamana River. The sanctuary rich in flora and fauna offers a natural habitat to around 43 species of mammals, 233 species of birds, 46 species of reptiles, 13 species of amphibians and 27 species of fishes.


AARANMULA BOAT RACE

Held in August-September every year on the Pampa River, Aaranmula Boat Race is a part of the Aaranmula Temple festival. This temple is about 1700 year old lying on the banks of Pampa River and is dedicated to Sree Parthasarathy- the divine charioteer of Arjuna.



4. PAITHALMALA HILL STATION :

                                             
                                               




Paithalmala is an enchanting hill station in North Kerala (India), situated about 4,500 feet (1372metres) above sea level near the Kerala-Karnataka border and about 65 kms north-east of Kannur city and 44 kms away from Thaliparampu. It is an ideal spot for trekking as well. There are not many such enchanting hill stations in the region.

Places to visit there are:


CHELWARA FALLS


The water fall is really a wonderful site as the water gushes from the rocks amidst the green coffee plantations. The enchanting natural beauty and the tranquility of the place attract tourists and nature lovers. This waterfall is seasonal and it offer wonderful views in rainy season. Entering the water is very dangerous and has proven to be fatal for many over the past few years. The tourists are advised not to get into the water.



TADIAONDAMAL PEAK

The peak presents amazing opportunities for trekking lovers. Once at the peak, tourists are offered with breathtaking views of the area around amidst an exceptionally calm and refreshing atmosphere. The best season to visit the peak is during the months of December to May. And if you are interested in trekking, the time is to go during early winter. The peak is 30 km away from Virajpet.


PAZHASSI DAM


Pazhassi Dam, an ideal retreat for tourists, the dam site is famous for its scenic beauty. The Kannur District Tourism Promotion Council boats are available to navigate through the river enjoying the silent beauty of Pazhassi dam. It is the only reservoir with gardens in Kannur district. The garden is a good attraction with sculptures. The added attractions of the place are the gardens and children's park. The Buddha's mountain at Pazhassi and the sculpture of Pazhassi King are visual delights.


5. DOODHPATHRI


Doodhpathri is a beautiful meadow with emerald grass that looks like a green carpet. A beautiful river dancing and reverberating with the wind flows in the middle of the meadow, lending it a splendid charm and vibrancy. The place looks very beautiful and pleasant. The green grass under the feet is really wonderful.

This is the reason that the place is not overcrowded and not many tourists visit here. However, it has become a real hit among the local population, who find it a welcome step. The road from Khansahib area in Badgam to the Doodhpathri is not in a good condition. There is not a full-fledged market or any hotel in the area, so the trip is always going to last for a day only and you need to pack your lunch. Tea and snacks are available in the shops run by local people.


Weather of the place remains moderate. The best time to visit is during the spring and summer months from May to September. The place is primarily for sightseeing as it has not been developed completely as yet.



                                                 
Camping Spots :
The place is known for plenty of camping spots and from Daksum the trail rises fairly steeply to the Sinthan Pass located at the height of 3,748m.


Trekker's Paradise :

It is a trekker's paradise covered with coniferous forests, gurgling streams and hidden grassy meadows with the melodious sound of the gushing Bringi River forming the backdrop.

Mujpathri :

Mujpathri (Valley of Turnip) is a small hamlet 3 km from doodpathri, it is situated on the bank of river Shaliganga.
